HIKE THE NOCATEE PRESERVE

Come experience this 2,400-acre conservation area that presents a great mix of undisturbed, old Florida flora and fauna. Located just west of the Tolomato River, the 3.5-mile one-way trail will let you immerse yourself with a Florida very similar to what was found hundreds of years ago.

Hike the Nocatee Preserve Experience

The Nocatee Preserve is a conservation area that has set aside 2,400 acres that ensures these beautiful lands stay in their natural state for years to come.

The 3.5-mile trail is an “out and back” trail, so be ready for a 7-mile experience if you go all the way. It’s multi-use, so you might see other mountain bikers or horseback riders along the way. The trail is relatively flat and thus it’s a great hike for all skill levels. Dogs are allowed but must be on a leash.

The trailhead is located near the Ponte Vedra High School and provides easy parking and restrooms. While the trail starts out with a nice tree canopy, it opens as the trail progresses, so make sure to wear a hat to provide sun protection.

The Preserve is home to a mix of wildlife – wild hogs, deer, turkeys, snakes and others – so keep your eyes peeled. It can also be home to lots of insects, particularly in the summer months. Have lots of repellent to help keep them away.

When you go, you can help ensure this special conservation area continues into perpetuity by being a “Sustainable PVB Guest” by keeping these tips in mind.

  • Save your skin while being stylish. Prevent sunburn by wearing a hat made of recycled fibers.
  • Use SPF-30 sunblock, made in Florida, bio-degradable and nontoxic to marine life.
  • Leave nothing but memories—trash receptacles located at trailhead and at Nocatee Landing Paddle Launch Park.
  • Stay on the trail.
